Diagnosed Viral Infection, Caused Mesenteric Adenitis. Have Sore Belly, UTI, Weight Loss, Hot To Touch. Done Ultrasound.

My daughter (9) has been diagnosed with a viral infection which may have caused Mesenteric Adenitis. She has been complaining of a really sore belly for the last week, but the last 3 weeks she has said it has hurt, but not as painful. She constantly gets UTIs, the last one being approx 2 or 3 weeks ago. She has had an ultrasound which has shown an thickened bladder. Could all this be related. The ultrasound doesn t show anything else. She has also lost approx 2 kgs in 1.5 weeks, and is feeling tired all the time. Her appetite has shrunk. She hasn t had any fevers, although sometimes can be really hot to touch, but no temp showing.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your nine years old daughter has pain in abdomen with symptoms of UTI ( Cystitis) confirmed on ultrasound scanning ,

Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water. To keep your urine dilute and give her vitamin B complex and supplements This will help to fasten the recovery..
