Diagnosed With PCOS, Irregular Periods, Prescribed Progesterone, APCOD. Planning To Conceive. Treatment?
Hello Doctor, I am 29 years old and i have been diagnosed with PCOS from last 5 years. From last one year i am having very irregular periods. I was given progesterone for 2 months and i still get my periods and i still waited and after 1 month (ie. 3 months total) I went to the doctor and she prescribed me APCOD (for 2 months) and progesterone tablets for 5 days. I am married from last 2 years and planning to have a baby next year. i have a tendency to put on weight even though my food intake is minimal. Kindly advice how to treat PCOS and regularize my periods
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Let me explain few things about PCOS ( PCOD) i.e. Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome or Disease. The most common symptom of pcos is dysfunctional uterine bleeding, Amenoorhea, irregular bleeding ( as in your case). Now about your treatment for PCOS as progesterone is only for dysfunctional uterine bleeding or irregular bleeding, while APCOD is a nutritional supplement of Vitamin D and supplements. Nothing to do any role in treatment of pcos. In my opinion get in blood foe estrogen, androgen, FSH/LH ration ( alteration ) . Ultrasound finding , of atretric follicles with increased ovarian stroma. Please note down here that if there is alteration in FSH/ LH ratio & ovarian stroma with changes in follicles , confirm these after consultation with a gynecologist and take treatment according to situation. Weight gain is due to PCOS. Conservative treatment is very effective in PCOS. Regularization of period depends upon successful treatment of pcos. Good luck. Dr. HET
