Diagnosed With Rheumatoid Arthritis. Having Relief From Humira. Having Side Effects. Wean Off Or Stop?
Hello, I am 58 years old - was diagnsed with RA in 2003. After trying several medications , I have been on Humira since 2006 and have felt great ever since. I am obviously in remission and am becoming concerned about being on Humira for so long and all the side effects. I am thinking about stopping Humira and would like to know if I need to wean off or just stop. Also, what are your thoughts about me stopping completely after the success I ve had? Debbie
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Since you are on a remission after taking Humira, it is best to gradually taper off the doses that too after consulting your rheumatologist. Do not stop the treatment abruptly as it may cause a relapse of the symptoms.
