Diagnosed With Tinea Versicolor On Cheeks. Had Used Selsun. Use Clotrimazole Later?
I was diagnosed with Tinea Versicolor on my cheeks...earlier i had used 'SELSUN' which is a selenium sulphide solution but i met a doctor today and he prescribed vitamin tablets as well as 2 antifungal gels,namely-Clotrimazole gel (for the night) and Tinaderm Tolnaftate Topical solution IP for the morning...my query is that, will it be a problem if i use them both together to treat Tinea Versicolor? What i mean is that after applying SELSUN and rinsing it off after 10 minutes, shall i apply the CLOTRIMAZOLE gel while going to bed and apply TINADERM when i wake up..?Would it lead to a complication...??
You are having tinea versicolor which is fungal infection. I would recommend that you can apply two antifungals at a time. Use clotrimazole in the morning and tolnaftate at night. This much treatment if taken regularly for atleast two weeks should suffice. Other precautions include: Do not apply any other cold creams over face. Do not apply hair oil. Clean face atleast twice a day and then apply the medicines. Check if you have similar hypopigmented lesions over back , chest or arms. These should also be treated along ,if you have any. Sometimes if there is no response inspite of treatment, then oral antifungals have to be given along, which your dermatologist can assess and decide.
Hope it helps
