Diagnosed With Von Hippel-Lindau Cysts On Both Sides. Could It Be As A Result Of Injury During Young Age?
A Nurse just mentioned that my husband might have (I thought she started the word with a "C") but all I am finding on the internet is something starting with a V, so I am thinking I may have misunderstood. Von Hittel - Lindau cysts on both sides one is 7.3 centimeters..before ultrasound thought hydrocele, now it is ruled out. He will have lab next to identify for sure. Already had ultrasound first. Also wondered if could be a result of an injury when youngster. Vicki in VA
I am so sorry to hear about this possible condition that your husband has. Von Hippel Lindau syndrome is an inherited disorder. It means it is transmitted from parents to offspring. It is not caused by any injury or other possible conditions other than the genetic mutation on these genes.
I understand how disturbing this can be. I call on you to be supportive and work with his doctors to find ways of addressing this. Also let him know that this is in no way his fault but just a natural occurrence that he has no control over.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you for using our services and please feel free to request for more information if need be. I wish you well good health. Dr. Ditah, MD.
