Hi,
Management of diabetes has changed in the last few years. The earlier concept of only diet and exercise doesn't exist today. Medications are started as soon as diagnosis of diabetes is made. I would suggest you to undergo a glucose tolerance test (after 3 days of unrestricted carbohydrate diet) and HbA1c test. Donot delay in starting medications, diabetes is known as silent killer, even at mildly elevated blood glucose levels your vital organs can get damaged.
