Hi, I am 27yrs old with 5.2 height and 64 weight. I was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and was given three doses of Methotrexate as the first two doses did not work. Its almost been 1 & 1/2 month since i have taken the dose. I was told by Doctor that I have to take a break of 6 months to concieve. Just wanted to know is there any precaution I need to take to avoid ectopic pregnanacy in future?
Ectopic pregnancy mostly tubal pregnancy is due to block in the fallopian tubes. It may have been caused by infection and scarring. Evaluate for any tubal block by HSG. Methotrexate has a teratogenic effect on the fetus so it is advisable to conceive after 6 months. Due to ectopic pregnancy the tube will have some inflammation it give it time to heal.
