Diagnosed With Elevated Cholesterol, Follow Healthy Lifestyle With Regular Workout. What Should Be Done?
I just got a call from my doctor s office saying my cholesterol is 215. I am 5 2 tall and weigh 122. I am also in the gym at least 5 days a week doing cardio for at least 45 per visit. I eat mostly chicken and fish, very little red meat. I m not sure what the good cholesterol number is, but no I need to work on this. What do you suggest? No history of heart disease in my family that I know of. My 65 year old brother had a stroke 2 years ago.

Hi,
The normal cholesterol level is less than 200mg/dl. You are in the borderline high level ( 200- 239)
after which is only high. High cholesterol alone is associated with less risk., than If there is High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, alcohol along with high cholesterol which complicates to stroke, heart disease.
Along with regular exercise, healthy diet- avoiding ghee, butter, vanaspati., using olive oil, corn oil, cod liver oil , sunflower oil, fibre rich foods(vegetables) will help reducing LDL (bad cholesterol) and raising HDL (good cholesterol).
Take care.
hello... you have slight high cholesterol..all you need to do is start exercising for 1 hour daily.. avoid junk, pastries, butter, ghee.. opt for slim milk.. eat high fiber foods like oats, brown rice, ragi, jowar etc.. have fruits, nuts, salads, sprouts, egg whites as mid meals... drink plenty of water.. rest well..take fish oil capsule daily as it has omega 3 which reduces cholesterol..
