Diagnosed With Genital Hsv 1. What Precautions To Take To Prevent From Spreading ?

Okay so I was diagnosed with genital hsv 1 and im freaking out because I live with a 6 year old and a 6 month old. Ive had the same partner for the last 4 months, he got a blood test and came out negative so I feel like ive had it for a while and have been living here for 6 months so whos to say I haven't spread it to them already. Ive been trying to be incredibly careful but I don't know what precautions to take apart from moving out which I cant afford to do right now. I just need some straight answers.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic
Herpes genitalis is usually caused by HSV 2 and rarely by HSV 1. It spreads by direct contact from the herpes lesion when it is active. So do not worry. You need not move out or stay away from your children. Only precaution you need to take is not to have sexual intercourse when you are having active lesions. Wait for it to completely heal. Actually around 80% of general population are HSV 1 Ig G positive.
Hope this helped
