Diagnosed With High Cholesterol. On Simbastatin. Suffered Cough, Experienced Vertigo. Having Neck Pain, Lump In Cheek Bone. Suggestions?
Good morning doc. I'm 52 year old was diagnosed with high cholesterol (250) . Took Simbastatin 250mg for a month and result is now 200. I suffered cough for over a month then exeperienced vertigo during night time specifically bedtime. Recently, I had colds for a week and now am having lower neck pains and a small lump in the lower right cheek bone. Please advise . Thanks
Hello.Symptoms you say are ,probably ,adverse effects of Simvastatin. To Continue taking simvastatin depends of if you have other cardiovascular risk factors.A cholesterol level of 200 in a person without diabetes, no high blood pressure, not smoker, not overweight and practicing exercise, the treatment with drugs is not essential. A dietary treatment may be sufficient and you must repeat the blood test in six months to see cholesterol levels. Go to your doctor, He will measure your cardiovascular risk, adverse effects of simvastatin and will decide on treatment. I wish you good health.
