Diagnosed With Klebsiella Pneumonia In The Respiratory System. Tried Different Antibiotics. On Intravenous Antibiotics.Black Sputum
Hi, I am a 27 year old female and have been diagnosed with klebsiella pneumonia in the respiratory system. The first 10 days I was given oral antibiotics by the doctor. When it didnt work, he changed the anitbiotics for the next 10 days. Even that did not subside the bacteria. Now he is giving me intravenous antibiotics.
I am curious if this dosent get treated even now, then what is the solution. Is there a need ti be more aggressive and attentive to this bacteria ?
Also I have been seeing black sputum past few years. Can that be attributed to this bacteria.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, You are having klebsiella pneumonia this is usually seen in hospital settings and sometimes resistant to routine antibiotics. You have taken oral antibiotics and if sputum culture is done we can know what are antibiotics effective for treatment but even if culture is not available then empirically there are very good antibiotics are available. Please continue to tale intravenous antibiotics you will be free of infection soon. Are you a smoke if you are please quit smoking. Please do not worry . Take care Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
