Diagnosed With Low Potassium. Could The Coconut Water Help To Flush Out The Potassium. Help?
My son has been diagnosed with severe low potassium. He had been drinking a lot of coconut water. He has had pee very often. He is 48 years old and the Dr, finds everything else to be normal. He does have IBS which the coconut water seemed to help. Could the coconut water cause his body to flush out the potassium. We know the coconut water is very high in potassium. His doctor has him on pills but they have not so far brought the potassium level up. We are wondering if you have any suggestion as to the cause? He does not drink alcohol or do drugs.
Hello Thanks for your query. The coconut water is high on potassium, it would not flush out potassium from the body. Excessive urination and IBS related diarrhoea could cause potassium deficiency. The tablets or Potklor solution will over time improve potassium levels. Bananas are high in potassium, try those. Do not worry as long as he is receiving adequate medical attention, in time the levels will improve. Take care
