Diagnosed With Lung CA And Experiencing Dry And Swollen Skin, Red Hands And Thighs And Weight Loss
Hi, My husband's billirubin level was high for 6 weeks. First it was thought he had a blockage. Stents were put in but level was still high. Given new medicine, the level has come down , but now his arms, hands and thighs are very red, skin is extremely dry and swollen. He was also diagnosed with lung CA. Although the dr.'s say that has nothing to do with the skin. He is also losing alot of weight real fast.

Hi, with this presentation, liver failure has to be ruled out. With liver failure, blood billirubin levels increase, the person may bleed easily or bruise excessively, feet and/or abdomen may be swollen, just to name a few. What you have described is consistent with liver failure. If I were his treating doctor, I would first of all do a thorough clinical examination and then ask for some investigations to rule out liver failure.
