Diagnosed With Muscle Atrophy After Auto Accident. On Physiotherapy, Exercise. Solution For Muscle Loss?
I had an auto accident and my doctor says I have muscle atrophy. I am a diabetic, numbers are great. I am having physical therapy light exercise. Is there anything to stop this? I eat lots of protein, and watch my numbers well. I also am having eye problems. A wonderful doctor is helping to keep my vision. Muscle loss is getting worse. I keep loosing weight.
Muscle atrophy needs further assessment. There are test like electromyography and nerve muscle stimulation studies by which the nerve supply to a muscle and its excitation can be studied. This is done by the neurologist and then medications can be taken depending on results. Also try to use your affected muscles regularly and that might bring back power to those muscle groups. This can be learnt with the help of a physiotherapist.
Hope this helps
