hello there!
your son got a rare disease Mucha Haberman Disease also known as Pityriasis Lichenoids et Varioliformis Chronica (PLEVC) so rare even US has not any epidemiologicl statistics for it. Internationally approximately 44 thousand patients are seen over 10 years in 3 catchment areas in great Britain .

This name entails an entire spectrum of diseases some are severe if fever and ulcers are there with all trunk buttock and extremities involvement.

Is your kid haing fever with these episodes? or some ulcers on body?

i wonder why steroids? All your kid needed is a local wound care. If infected then use
1. Topical mupirocin ointment
2. Sterile dressing of the wound 12 hours a part daily.

steroids lower your immune system and delays recovery so i can see no other reason than this for the delayed recovery of your kids wound.

And don't worry this disease tends to self resolution. Nothing hazardous. It resolves completely over weeks.

Some cases have been reported to recurr but they too wax and wane with out any hazardous effects..

Now coming to the looks and shyness well disease is a part of life. there is nothing to worry about. And alot of beauticians and dermatologists will solve that issue. So no worries and chill out.

Now lets talk about what could have caaused it in first place.. so for that even today professionalists are not clear about it. some say its the blood cells dyscrasia that is some abnormal behaviour of defence cells (t cell) of the body. cell mediated immunological derangement, others believe it is infection of the vessels Vasculitis as markers ( complements and IGs) others say its a phenotypical abnormalities, some say its a TCr gamma rearrangents. Some fancy words regarding the subject which you need not to worry about.. All you need to do is dress the wound and stop steroids and use topical mupirocin ointmnt. you will see a definite change.

Ask me any thing else about the disease. my cell number is there on my profile. u can email me too..

have a nice day.
Regards
