Diagnosed With Reactive Arthritis, On Tramdol, Naproxen, Not Helping Much With Pain. Solution ?

Hi I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis 10 months ago. I am a school teacher and have not been able to return yet. I have also had bursitis on the right hip where the arthritis is, I have it in my lower back top of spine right hand right foot and get sever buttock pain and heal pain on my right heal. I am taking 400mg slow release tramadol a day, naproxen, omeprazole, sertraline and have just been prescribed amiltriptilyne to help sleep as the tramadol makes me feel a bit 'wired' I am hbla negative so why have I had it so long? I have been led to believe it is a temporary condition - I have had two flare ups since the onset last September and have not had a pain free day at all since diagnosed. I contracted food poisoning on holiday and that is how I have ended up with reactive arthritis. Do you think this will ever go? It really doesn't feel like it :-(

Greetings.
My dear friend you need to r/o other type of arthritis also.
As You had not written your age-Go for Ra Factor,ANA,Series of X-Rays,Uric acid level,Calcium& Vit. D Level,S.TSH,urine culture test.
You can try Tab. HCQ (Hydroxy Chloroquine).
I would recommend to visit good Rheumatologist.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
Reactive arthritis usually results due to certain bacterial infections occuring else where in the body. Generally, this is self limiting and resolves spontaneously without leaving any traces.
I suspect a different form of arthritis in you. Consult an orthopedic surgeon or rheumatologist for thorough evaluation and management.
Hope this helps
