Diagnosed With Strep Throat, Upper Respiratory Infection. Have Fever. On Amoxicillin. Have Temperature. Suggestions?

Yesterday I was diagnosed with strep throat and an upper respiratory infection. I've been having a fever since Thursday (the high was 101.6). I was given 500mg amoxicillin 3 tablets every 8 hours. Last night around 1am I woke up cold so I took my temp. It was 96.3. I covered up and took it 15 min later and it was 97.5. I've never had a temp of 96.3....just seemed odd.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about your sore throat and the upper respiratory tract infections. From the information you have provided, your treatment(amoxicillin) is well adapted for the disease. These temperature though somewhat on the lower spectrum of the normal range are absolutely normal. There is no need to panic. Simply continue your medications as prescribed and sure you would soon be feeling a lot more better.

However, I am worried about the dosage of amoxicillin. Please double check and make sure it is not 3tablets every 8ours but 1tablet every 8hours and 3tablest per day. If this is not the case, please double check because no patient would receive 1500mg of amoxicillin every 8hours for such a treatment.

I hope you find this helpful and addresses your query fully. Feel free to flow up with more questions if need be and we shall gladly provide answers.
I wish you well.

Hi,
Temperature might be due to upper respiratory tract infection.
Continue with antibiotic and within a day or two you will be alright.
Meanwhile take paracetamol for fever as and when required.
Ok and take care.
