Diarrhea. Been Throwing Up. On Fluids. What Can Help?
My 2.5 yr old has been throwing up every night since Saturday night. She has had diarrhea every day as well sometimes 2-3 times a day. Started her on fluids only ( as much as possible b/c she s hungry and is requesting food). She plays during the day, but isn t urinating much. Also, mmy mom lives with us and is a home health aid for a woman with CDiff
As per your history, your baby's diarrhea could be due to change in diet or can be infectious.
If baby is having abdominal cramps and blood passing with motion; then consult pediatrician to treat infection where you need to take anti-biotics or anti protozoal drug.
If baby is just having loose motion without blood passage or cramps; give him or her fluids as much as baby likes and give probiotic like sporolac sachet two times a day.
Give baby curd to eat which is natural probiotic. It helps to deal with loose motion.
In case baby develops dehydration like dry skin or no urine out put or drowsiness, consult immediately the doctor.
I hope I have answered your query. In case of any doubt, I shall be happy to help you.
Best regards,
Dr. Neelam.
