Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The muscle spasms that your mother is having is commonly seen after such procedures. Oral muscle relaxants and a regular hot fomentation can help to relieve her symptoms to some extent. You can also get her examined to rule pout any collection in the area.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.

* Massaging your jaw line can also help alleviate the pain. Gently place two fingers on both cheeks and apply pressure on both. Massage the jaw in a circular pattern for about ten times, similar to the open and close mouth exercise.
* You can also apply ice packs to the sore spots. Ice packs usually numb the area and decrease the inflammation and pain. Wrap the ice pack in a clean, dry towel while using and apply it for no longer than 15 minutes. The ice can be alternated with a heat pack which will help to relax muscles and also reduce pain. Wrap the heat pack in a towel to avoid burns. Apply either heat or cold to the side of your face.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Difficulty in opening and closing of the mouth can be due to muscle spasms.
I would suggest you to give her muscle relaxants.

Take a towel dipped in warm water and apply on her TMJ on both the sides for 3-4 times a day.
Do warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day to give a soothing effect.

Take a soft diet.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

If the symptoms persists or even worsen visit to the concerned Dentist and get the checkup done.

Hope this helps out.

Regards...
