Discharge From The Eye. Changed Contact Lens. Tried Eye Drops. Any Suggestions?
I had pink eye a few weeks ago and it went away. Now though both my eyes are always watery and teary often as well as discharging goo. The area around my eyes is very red and dry from ny constant having to wipe away the wateriness and discharge . I change my contacts even before my doctor reccomended and have tried eye drops but I ve seen no improvements with my eyes. Is there anything that can help my eyes go back to normal?
It is better to discontinue with the wear of contact lenses till your symptoms subside and you can switch over to spectacles for 2-3 weeks till the eyes are redness free. Sometimes persistent viral infections can occur . However these are self limiting. Since the area aound the eyes is red( not the inside of the eye or the white part of the eye), it could be due to irritation from constant wiping of tears. You can put lubricating eye drops (OTC), 1 drop 4 times a day for 2-3 weeks for symptomatic relief. You can apply a steroid + antibiotic eye ointment to the skin around the eyes, once a t bedtime, for a week.
