Dizziness, Tiredness, Problem In Stomach After Taking Triamterene. Should I Continue This Medicine?
I just started taking Triamterene (3rd day) the first 2 days I took them at night, but my Doctor said I should take it in the a.m., so this is the first day that I took it in the a.m. I also am taking Metoprolol 25 mg in the morning and 25 mg in the evening. Today after taking the Triamterene (about 2 hrs later) I started to feel dizzy, a little sick to my stomach and very tired. Should I be concerned about continuing to take this medication? Thank you Delia
Welcome to HCM. Using metoprolol and triamterene together may lower your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. This can cause dizziness, or feeling like weakness, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeats, or loss of blood glucose control. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor about your symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment or need your blood pressure checked more often to safely use both medications. Sustain release metoprolol is available and take it at different time but better ask your treating doctor.
