Do Boniva Injections Cause Severe Pain In Hip, Pelvis And Leg?
my wife takes boniva injections every three months for the last three years. On this last injection after a couple of days she suffered severe pain in hip and pelvis area shooting down leg. Could not walk and any movement was with severe pain. Any connection with length of time on boniva to the pain. Correction it was almost immediately after that last injection.
Yes the drug which has been prescribed is normally given in osteoporosis and may sometimes after a certain period cause severe pain, it may get aggravated if your calcium is on the lower side or if you are on radiotherapy . it should not be given too frequently, like once in every three months is fine. Also care should be taken while administration as injection intraarterially or paravenously( that means outside your veins ) can lead to tissue damage and pain. So please ensure whether any redness, tenderness is still present at the site of administration or the pain is generalized over the legs. In any case inform your doctor and take the necessary steps. please do not administer the injection before your doctors advice.
