Do Folinext And Carnitor Interfere With The Menstrual Cycles?

hi i am 29 years old and am married 1 and half year ago. i have got periods 20 days late this time. on the recommendations of my gynae, i have done thyroid test and my husband semen test. my tsh is normal 2.34 and my husband s sperm count is good. everything is normal. motility of sperms is around 40 i.e. within normal range. my gynae asked me to take folinext-one month ovofar-50 mg to take from third day of my period for five days and asked me to go for ultrasound on 12th day from my day one of periods. she has prescribed my husband to take: Carnitor 500 mg twice daily for 4 months folinext one daily for 4 months. will you please guide me why has she given so many tablets. we were having no plans to conceive and she is insisting us to plan now. why is it so?

Hi

Folinext contains folic acid which is a very safe drug and can be taken even during pregnancy. Ovofar is a fertility improving drug.It helps in inducing ovulation and thereby increasing the chance of pregnancy.I would recommend a pelvic scan to rule out ovarian cyst which can cause irregular periods. Incase you are not planning for pregnancy,continue folic acid and ovofar can be taken after a few months. Carnitor is a general supplement which can be taken by your husband regularly.
