Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello, i am waiting to see a doctor for my 31 year old husband. He is jaundiced and has T.Bili levels of 46. I am terrified. The last doctor we spoke to said that his liver was inflamed and could feel it. He is malnourished and was consuming a significant amount of alcohol as we own a bar. It has now been 24 hours without him drinking (he does not consider himself to be dependant at all) and the reason that he is malnourished is that he has suffered from GERD and oesophageal issues in the past. Is he in danger?
A level of Total Bilrubin 46 is definitely pointing towards some pathology of liver. Alcoholic liver cirhosis may be a diagnosis in your case and malnutrition may be a result of this disease.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
