Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a Hospice patient who is going home, who has been on a dobutamine gtt., the plan is to stop the gtt right before discharge. What can I expect with this pt. will they rapidly decline. will they withstand a 40 minute trip home ? Do You have any expected length of time left for this pt.
Dobutamine should be gradually lowered; abrupt withdrawal will cause hypotension. Best is to transport by cardiac ambulance to home. Then 40 min trip home will not be with uncertainty.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Tushar Kanti Biswas,
