Do I Have Alternate Treatment For Rotated Tooth Other Than Wearing Braces?
i went to the dentist today for the first time in a new city. i am 16 years old and have been to all of my check ups and all of that. i have had my yearly x rays. i have never been told that i needed braces. i went today and they said one of my back top teeth was rotated 90 degrees. they said i would need braces. is there any other treatment for a rotated tooth?
Any occusal disharmony , tipped or rotated teeth needs an orthodontic correction which is done by applying braces by a fixed orthodontic technique.
Small amount of rotation in the tooth can be reshaped by selective grinding and covering it with a prosthetic crown.
this needs to be examined by a orthodontist who will come up with a treatment plan so i suggest you to consult an orthodontist.
Other than orthodontic braces , if the rotated teeth are discomforting and unesthetic can be extracted and replaced in position by prosthetic tooth either a implant tooth or fixed bridge .
The rotated teeth are usually corrected with braces.
If you are not willing for braces, you can leave it if it will not interfere with aesthetics of your teeth.
Slightly tilting with your fingers daily can give little alteration.
Sinc you are 16 yrs,and wisdom teeth may not be erupted by this time, its better to wait untill the teeth erupts.
Malalignment of teeth can be because of several reasons, tilted , rotated , tipped teeth often cause discomfort , they interfere in chewing and cleaning .
You need to visit to a Orthodontist , where he will take x-rays , photographs of your face , impressions to determine what type of treatment is needed.
small amount of rotation can be treated with selective grinding .
If the rotation is causing discomfort you can go for braces , your age is suitable for the treatment.
If you are afraid of putting metal braces and making it visible and embarrasing ceramic brackets with cosmetic fixed braces can be used .
Hello,
I am Dr.Neha Gupta (dentist) and am glad to address to your query here.
Invisalign (and similar brands) are becoming more and more popular. Instead of brackets and wires, the Invisalign system consists of a series of plastic retainer-like trays that you wear for short periods of time to gradually correct tooth alignment. While braces are usually the best option for major dental corrections, Invisalign can be a much more comfortable and faster option.
Take care and please keep me informed of your progress at healthcaremagic through my profile directly.
