Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Do Lexapro And Trazodone Affect Cognitive Impairment?
I had been taking adderall for awhile, but then it randomly stopped working and caused the opposite effect. After a while, I got a new doctor and she gave me Vyvanse and Lexapro to take during the day and Trazodone to take at night to help me sleep. I ve noticed that ever since I started taking Lexapro and Trazodone, it s become difficult to read and retain the information I am reading. After consulting my doctor, I began to cut my Lexapro and Trazodone pills and did notice that the Vyvanse did appear to be working better. I m just wondering if it is the Lexapro and Trazodone causing the problems and if I should stop taking them.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Drugs responsible for your symptoms are Trazodone and Vyvanse which cause blurred vision and accommodation difficulties in about 5-15% of users. The most important thing is that all of the mentioned drugs are not to be stopped abruptly.the dose needs to be tapered slowly over a period of 3-4 weeks. So, before making any modifications to dose, please consult your treating physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
