Hello, I went to the Dr yesterday for a cough and I nurse practitioner gave me mucinex dm and zpack. Yesterday I did feel very dizzy and a little bit of nausea after taking the mucinex dm. Today I took it again after the 12 hrs as prescribed and again felt very dizzy lightheaded a couple hours then my headache got extremely bad and have very bad nausea I vomited twice I have been feeling terrible for the example past 8 hours still feeling bad. What is going on? BTW the nurse practitioner said I have lung infection but later I went to the ER and had an xray done and they told me it s a upper respiratory infection to continue the z pack because I Already starred it and drink the mucinex dm as well
It is unlikley by themselves to cause dizziness but: 1) infection or inflammation of th eears due to any infection is likely to cause dizzinesss and nausea. 2) the DM and zpack lower the ability of the liver to metabolize drugs and these are very common to cause drug interactions. Any drug with mental effects might have an accumulation due to interactions with these drugs and the higherer blood level would liklely cause problems.
