Do Novolin Birth Control Pills Cause Any Side Effects?

Hi I am married for last 8months. We went to a gync few weeks after marriage, and she suggested few tests, results were fine. We were advised to take novolon in place of using other physical protection to avoide pregnancy. Its been almost 8months now that we are regularly taking this medicine. I see my body weight has increased to few kg. However as a result my cycles are painless and regular. I want to ask, will use of novolon create an issue when we are planning a baby later? Is the weight gain bcoz of the tablet? Is it safe to use novolon considering we want to plan a baby in near future? Thanks
