Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen for several years and have a bloated stomach but no others signs of cihrossis - no yellowing skin or eyes, no pain or discomfort. I was wondering if these meds have caused my stomach to bloat and if so will it goo away when I stop taking them?
Ibuprofen and Paracetamol are used in combination as 'analgesic'. Ibuprofen is a known gastric irritant. Hence this drug is known to cause drug induced gastritis. Since you have used it for a long period, you might have encountered this problem, which you are complaing in the form of bloating. All you need is to take a course of antacids, drink pleanty of water and avoid spicy foods during the course of treatment. It takes about 2 weeks for this condition to come back to normal.
