Do Prozac, Mirapex And Synthroid Cause Bleeding In The Duodenal Bulb?
If the duodenal bulb is found to be bleeding and the labs are next to normal (slightly low MCHC), what is the protocol for stopping the bleeding? No, I m not a drinker, nor am I on anti steroidal meds. I ve been on Prozac, Mirapex and Synthroid 15 years however. Would you blame one of those meds? I also have MS and injected interferon many years, but stopped that 3 years ago and went to a glatiramer acetate, Copaxone. That too has been stopped over 6 months now. Your thoughts?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Prolonged use of drugs can cause gastritis and sometimes bleeding. I wonder why you haven’t taken antacids like Pantoprazole along with this dugs. Fortunately none among them cause that much gastric problems. As of now you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole. Also take sucralfate syrup which can act as barrier over bleeding mucosa. If bleeding is severe endoscopic ligation may be needed. Consult a gastroenterologist and he will direct you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
