Do Relent OD,Montec LC And 3 And Augementin 375 Treat Nasal Block?

I have nasal polyps, i have been prescribed, 1. Relent OD, 2. Montec LC & 3. Augementin 375. But inspite of taking these medicines, the nasal block is very severe. Breathing is highly difficult. Is there any long term cure available for this? Will i gain weight if i take these medicines? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Nasal polyps require a little aggressive treatment. The medicines you are taking are best used when the polyps are either very small and limited or usually after polypectomy (Removal of polyp). There are two treatment options:
1) Medical polypectomy: This is done by aggressive use of steroids along with the medicines you are taking. It has some side effects due to use of steroids but these side effects are minimal since the course is of medium duration 10-14 days.
2) Surgical Polypectomy: This is the treatment of choice. Polyps are removed surgically/endoscopically, sinuses are washed and then the medicines you are currently using are advised to avoid recurrence.

While you wait for the further management by either of the methods above mentioned, please continue to take your medications and add steam inhalation with some Vicks in it twice a day.
