Do Seroquel And Remeron Cause Hallucination And Delusion?

My husband was started on seroquel and remeron he was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson s he is delusional, has hallucination auditory and visual he has a lifetime history of controlling and very manipulative behaviours which are since the rapid decline in cognitive behaviours are out of control he was placed in a nursing home recently and is throwing temper tantrums is in denial thinks he is not ill and wants to come home I can t care for him any more he also has ESRD and is on dialysis his behavior is so out of control they are having trouble keeping in his chair it has taken over a year to convince him to stay there now the msg home psychiatric wants to DC these meds and place him on transcoding help what should I do

Hello,

Seroquel is Quetiapine and is an antipsychotic drug. The drug helps to treat the hallucinations and is useful to control abnormal and aggressive behavior. He has auditory and visual hallucinations. Visual hallucinations don't occur due to psychosis. These kind of hallucinations are usually seen in some organic issue.

He has ESRD and his serum electrolytes should be checked. Delirium could be the reason of these symptoms. Talk to her psychiatrist regarding this.
