General & Family Physician, Dr. Saad Aziz's Response
Hi. Thanks for contacting HCM.
I have reviewed your query. The progressive weakness in your legs is most probably due to the compressed spinal cord because of pus. Yes, these medicines are used as first line treatment of TB and I am sure that your physician has properly evaluated you and prescribed the correct medication. If the medication is taken properly, it will subside the pus and alleviate the pressure caused by it on your spine and hence improve the weakness. In case the weakness does not subside within the next two months or is deteriorating, contact your prescribing physician to re-evaluate your medication and perhaps add another drug, used in combination therapy of TB, to your treatment. These drugs may include Rifampin, Pyrazinamide and Ethambutol.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. Wishing you good health.
