Do Trazodone, Estrogen And Progesterone Withdrawal Cause Throat Constriction And Difficulty In Speaking?

My friend has taken trazadone (100mgs) for sleep for at least 10 yrs, Since May she has noticed difficulty forming and expressing her words. her throat feels constricted at times, she is crying frequently. She has begun to taper off on her dosage of trazadone. Also she recently tapered off completely her hormones of estrogen and progesterone. Could some of this contribute to her speech problems and her emotional state? Thank you.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Trazodone may influence in this clinical situation. Anyway, before coming to this conclusion, I would recommend performing a brain MRI.

Another possible cause to consider would be frontotemporal dementia or depression. You should discuss with her doctor on the above issues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
