Do Abnormal Light Chains And Elevated SGPT Levels Indicate Cancer?
HI! My brother have abnormally H for his Kappa (86.19) and Lambda Light Chains (66.24) and have High SGPT. He is on disability since late December last year due to severe attack of gout but never seemed to recover despite his uric acid at a normal and have been in and out of the hospital. He can t seem to recover anymore. He started a high dosage pack of prednisone so he is a bit mobile. The result of his immuniglobulin is 8.86 which is very high as well. The comment of the Dr from Yale University from the diagnostics center that because of the above abonormally high light chains that he may have a certain type of cancer like myeloma, leukemia etc. Tomorrow he has an appointment to see his oncologist. Now, is it safe to say that with the light chains report and very high sgpt, my brother have cancer? And if so, and his liver is damaged is he at a really bad stage? He is only 45 yrs old.
