Do Anxiety, Nervousness And Suicidal Thoughts Need Psychiatric Treatment?
I have been being harassed at work over the past few months. I have been put on a 60 personal improvement plan because of my work. On Friday afternoon I over heard my manager using foul language about me. He also said to someone that he was going to pick on my work until I quit. I want to file a complaint to HR tomorrow. I have been increasingly anxious, nervous, I have been having suisidle thoughts. Should I seek psychiatric help? I feel I cannot go on.
Persistent work stress causes psychiatric symptoms like anxiety, nervousness, suicidal thoughts. Some times the stress results in quitting of job, development of depressive disorder, suicidal attempts etc. First of all file a complaint against your manager.
For acute anxiety, suicidal thoughts, nervousness visit a psychiatrist. For acute relief medicines like low dose benzodiazepines can help. Clonazepam, Lorazepam in low dose will reduce your anxiety and then see what happens in your office. If symptoms of Adjustment disorder persist then you should consult the psychiatrist and ask for regular treatment.
Thanks, Take care
