Do Birth Control Pills Cause Itchy, Red Rashes On The Stomach?

Hello. I just started taking Lo Loestrin Fe birth control pills for the last two days. Just now, i noticed a rash. 5 large red bumps, somewhat itchy on my stomach. Could this be from the birth control pills? I have put some cortisone on them for the moment. I have also just started taking Protonix for the last 6 days but I have taken that in the past with no adverse effects.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello

It could be an allergic eruption. As a first line management, you can take antihistamines like Cetirizine for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
