Do Black Bruises On Leg After An Injury Suggest Broken Blood Vessel?

I hurt my leg on a treadmill last Wednesday. It was painful for severs days I thought my leg was healing. But today I was in a lot of pain when the pain went away it left a black bruise the size of two adult hands on my leg. Can it be a broken blood vessel and do i need to see a doctor

thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com.....

well bruises generally happen because of injured superficial minor blood vessels..the vessels break, the blood get accommodated in the dependent part and the bruise becomes visible from the outside thereafter....the colour of the bruise changes until it gets healed...
however, bruises can be external signs of some serious and severe internal wounds or pathology too...

anyways, from your history it does not seem like something very major, but the size of your bruise is alarming and you have felt pain today also....i assume you have not taken much medicine for this neither you have applied ice regularly....otherwise your bruise as well as pain would have decreased considerably by now...

however i would advice you to go to an ORTHOPAEDICIAN to get the area checked for possible ligament and bony injuries....it does not seem likely but a checkup is always recommended....

hope this was helpful....
you can contact me for any further queries....
