Do Breathlessness And Burning In Throat Indicate Allergies?

I am having a hard time breathing and my throat is burning with a slight cough....can this be allergies? I have severe allergies and asthma and before taking myself to the urgent care I want to make sure its not something I can treat at home. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Burning throat and having hard time breathing with slight cough (I believe dry cough), are indicating possible allergy. However, we should rule out upper respiratory tract infection too. So, in this case, I highly recommend to see your caring doctor to get an accurate diagnosis. Meanwhile, I can only suggest to:
- Gargle with warm water and salt during the day
- Take anti-histamine at bedtime
- Apply cold balm on your chest and back to open your airways

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
