Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My elderly mother has seen bugs in her stools, along with pinworms and possibly round worms. We have never heard of anything like bugs in the stools, is that possible? She has been given a dose of med for the pinworms, they are now gone but she says she has seen these bugs? email: YYYY@YYYY
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, if there is pinworm infestation then bugs can appear in the stool. For that, she needs to take the full course of antibiotics, if so then only the condition will be cured.
If she still sees those bugs then she can continue those antibiotics for one more time or can change for the better antibiotics. But, if it is left then it will cause anemia and other problems to her.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
