Do Calcium Deposits In The Breasts Indicate Cancer?
I just had a mammogram and had an increase in the number of calcium deposits in my left breast. They did not tell me if they were micro or macro so I am very anxious. My husband just passed away of cancer. I have to go back for another mammogram. Is an increased number of deposits associated with cancer? I have always had lumpy breast - fibrocycstic.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If the calcifications are macrocalcifications then there is very little chance of breast cancer but if they are microcalcification then there is a suspicius of breast cancer one may need to do a regular followup with mammograms showing microcalcification as they are associated with breast cancer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
