Lifestyle changes: (1) use small frequent meals instead of large meals
(2)wait 2 hours after eating before laying down
(3)
weight loss of any excess weight because it puts pressure on the diaphragm
(4)avoid spicy/acidic/fried foods
(5)avoid caffeine, mint, chocolate, tomato
Medications such as
nexium,
prilosec,
prevacid,
protonix, can be used. They can take 5 to 7 days, in some cases, for an effect so they need to be used consistently.
