Do Diarrhea, Constipation, Nausea And Cramping Indicate Sign Of Food Poisoning?

My 89 year old uncle had diahrea whcih stopped 2 days ago. He has been constipated since yesterday and is having cramping about every 20 minutes with an intensity of 2 to 6 with 10 being the max. He is also nauseated at times. Is this indicative of food poisoning or flu? If flu, do you have a name for it?
