Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can diverticulosis symptoms come and go during a flare-up? At rare times I don’t feel anything at all, but after some normal activity - walking around the house, going to a dr. appt., doing a little laundry, not all in the same day - I’m back on the couch and feeling miserable. I’ve been on Cipro and Metronidozole since last Wednesday.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Diverticulosis is a chronic disease. It is known to have multiple flare-ups. The antibiotics, Cipro and Metronidazole should help with the flare-ups.
If the flare-ups occur too often, you could consult your surgeon about steps to take moving forward. In the meantime, if you are feeling too miserable, it does make sense to talk to a support group, even if it is online or a therapist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
