Do Esophageal Spasms Cause Pain In The Middle Of Chest?

I have been told I have esophageal spasms. This morning when I woke up, I took a drink of water. I got terrible pain in the middle of my chest, and then I fainted. I have these symptoms in spurts, but today was the first day I actually fainted. I feel fine now, just tired. My blood pressure right after this happened was 90/50 manually. Can the spasms cause this?
