Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Progynova is a hormone tablet given for estrogen deficiency and its symptoms usually during the perimenopausal period.

As you are 48 yes of age, the first thing to do while you are trying to conceive is to see if you have a healthy reproductive system and hormone levels to support the pregnancy.

I recommend :
- an OBGYN consult
-an ultrasound pelvis (to rule out Polycystic ovarian disease)
-blood tests (complete blood count, TSH, lipid profile, blood glucose panel, anti mullerian hormone)
-day 2 or 3 (of your menstrual cycle) levels of FSH, LH, estradiol
-follicular study to see if your follicular growth is normal and if ovulation occurs
-basal body temperature monitoring to check for ovulation and luteal phase length. (fertility friend. Com helps you chart this online for free)

Based on all these results, a plan for conceiving can be made. As you do not wish to go for IVF, ovulation induction and intrauterine Insemination may help if all you other parameters are normal.

Multiple follicles are usually seen in the first few days of the chest and is normal. If there are many (more than 20 or so) and you hormone levels are imbalanced, then it could be Polycystic ovarian disease for which treatment would be to suppress hormones and regulate ovulation.

Please start your folic acid supplement and contact your OBGYN for further management asap.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wish you good health
