Do High TSH Levels Affect The Quality Of Breast Milk?

Hi Doctor, I m a mother of 12 months old breastfeeding baby. I was on Thyronorm medicine till the baby was 4 months old. Now today, I have gone for the FT4 and TSH test and the TSH is 7.58. My query is that i was breastfeeding my baby from his 5th month to till date without Thyronorm and any other medicine, does the quality of breastmilk also affected my baby since i have high TSH level?

Hi, I think it will not affect the quality of milk. So, don't worry about it. But get your baby checked for thyroid levels because you were having hypothyroidism during pregnancy. Also, you should start taking thyronorm as prescribed by your doctor and repeat a TSH test after 6 weeks. Hope it helps.
