I am suffering from diabetes and sarocoidosis and have been taking prednisolone and immuosuppresant (100 mg) daily for last one year. Now montoux test was done in which positive indications have come i.e 16mm . Do I have to take medicines for Tubercolosis. ( TB ). Please clarify
Hi, Montoux test is not very specific for tuberculosis so its not indicated to start AKT according to monoux test results . If you are symptomatic then sample should be collected and send for AFB Stain , culture sensitivity and accordingy if positive then AKT can be started. If not symptomatic or otherwise - blood DNA PCR for tuberculosis can guide for Start of AKT. As you are on steroid for longer time chances of TB can be there.
