I went for TSH, T3 and T4 on 11/08/2011, the results came back: T4-11.6, T3-5.3 and TSH-4.23. The doctor put me on .1mg Eltoxin and said to have follow up bloods done.
I went for a repeat TSH on 07/09/2011 and it came back <.1. The GP said he was going to increase the meds, but the script he has given me has the same dosage on it as before. I spoke with another GP and he said I am being over-medicated and should never have been medicated to begin with??? I am now terribly confused and need someone to tell me what is actually going on...
Hello, Good day. I agree with your second doctor. There was no indication to start Eltroxin based on your initial blood reports. The TSH of 0.1 means that you have excess Thyroxine in body. Please stop Eltroxin and recheck Free T4 and TSH after 2 months. If the TSH is elevated, only then you need a small dose of Eltroxine . Consult an endocrinologist if TSH is elevated next time.
